Professor Ruth Padawer

Ruth Padawer was a senior writer at The Record in Bergen County, N.J., covering gender and social issues. In her 20 years at the paper, she also wrote about education, health and local politics. Her work has been featured on the PBS show “Media Matters,” on the NPR show “On the Media,” and in Columbia Journalism Review.

She has taught at the journalism school since 1992, for RWI, Columbia News Service, Bronx Beat, Education Reporting, and as a masters’ advisor. She holds an MS degree from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and a BA in history from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She has received several awards for her writing.
